Ninja training with Mårten Nylén

So, each week of Ninja Warrior SE, our resident ninja trainer Mårten Nylén has been giving our weekly challenge: a simple exercise you can do at home, meant to prepare you for one of the obstacles of the course.

Well, since we could all use some ninja training, I've taken it upon myself to make a post with each exercise, giving us a nice little work-out we can do during the commercial breaks, or, you know, whenever. And yes, I edited the images in Paint, so sue me!

You need good leg strenght to finish the Spider Climb, apparently, and Mountain Climbers are good for that. Also, originally, you could win a Ninja workout with Mårten if you submitted videos of yourself doing these exercises to your choice of social media, but I think that competition is over as of this week. Damn.

Take a moment to appreciate my perfectly looped gif (probs has more to do with Mårten's perfect form) and then drop hang and give me five! This will give you grip and core strenght.

You gotta jump to get on the right Jump Hang, right? So put on some Van Halen and get going!

Another one for the Jump Hang, because that one can be tricky. This, obviously, is for what comes after the jump. And don't forget to tuck in your t-shirt so it doesn't accidentally touch the water!

Mårten didn't say how many of these you were supposed to do, so I guess you should just keep going until you faint!! No, I'm kidding, don't do that. Maybe start with ten or something.

Burpees are the wooorst. But everyone recommends them for the Salmon Ladder, so better get started. CHOP CHOP.

I think technically explosive push-ups are supposed to have a jump when you go up, but if you can't do that you can just push really hard like Mårten does. And if jumping is too easy you can clap your hands while doing it, like Rocky (and I'm 95% sure we've seen the Japanese ninjas do that in the Sasuke training videos, buuuut I can't be bothered to look up who at the moment).

If this is too easy, you can do pull-ups while hanging there, Mårten says as a friendly tip. My friendly tip would be to dust off the ledge before hanging from it. I'm not speaking from personal experience or anything ...

And lastly, to prepared for the Cross-Bridge we're supposed to find a good place to balance for while counting to ten. Wait, you mean I have to go outside to do this!? Or am I meant to balance on my bathtub, because that is probably not a good idea...
